Rebilling a Prescription
The Rebill feature is an Rx action that allows completed prescriptions to be cancelled and resubmitted to a Third Party using the original provider transaction date and the original prescription number.
Example:
A prescription for a non-benefit drug is filled as Cash, because the patient requires special authorization from the New Brunswick provincial drug plan (NBPDP) before the prescription can be submitted on-line. Once the patient receives the special authorization, the pharmacy must re-bill the prescription to NBPDP. The rebilled prescription will contain the date that the prescription was originally dispensed, and the prescription number will be the same.
Prescriptions can be rebilled from the following locations:
- Rebilling a Prescription from the Patient Folder
- Rebilling a Prescription from the Workbench
- Rebilling a Prescription by Rx Number
- Rebilling a Prescription from Rx Detail
Audit History
When Rebill is used, there will always be 3 transactions in the Audit History to reflect the rebilled prescription. All three prescriptions will have the same prescription number, authorization number and Fill Date. The Fill Date for all three transactions will be the date that the original prescription was filled. The DTP Bill for the top transaction will display the billing codes from the rebilled claim. The TP Bill for the second and third transactions will display the billing codes from the original claim.
- When the Prescription is the First Fill: In the Audit History, the original claim will be displayed with the status Completed. The cancelled prescription will be reflected by the prescription with the status Hold. The rebilled prescription will have a status of Completed.
- When the Prescription is the Most Recent Fill: In the Audit History, the original claim will be displayed with the status Completed. The cancelled prescription will be reflected by the prescription with the status Cancelled. The rebilled prescription will have a status of Completed.
- When the Prescription is a Past Fill: A past fill means that the prescription number in question has already been refilled. In the Audit History, the original claim will be displayed with the status Completed. The cancelled prescription will be reflected by the prescription with the status Cancelled. The rebilled prescription will have a status of Completed.
Labels
When a label set is printed for a rebilled prescription, the File Copy will indicate: *REBILL*
