Ontario Blue Cross Claims

On October 17, 2022, Ontario Blue Cross plans were deactivated and Medavie Blue Cross began processing all Medavie pharmacy claims from all provinces.

Patient Folders that have Ontario Blue Cross plan entered must be updated to include the Medavie Blue Cross plan.

To identify patients that have Ontario Blue Cross coverage, run the Patient List report with Ontario Blue Cross as a third party criterion.

To update the affected Patient Folders:

1. Open the Patient Folder.

2. Select the 3rd Party tab.

3. Select Add. The Third Party Plan Search window opens.

4. Enter “BC” in the Bill Code field or “Medavie Blue Cross” in the Third Party Name field.

5. Select Search.

6. Confirm the correct third party is highlighted. Select OK.

7. Copy the patient’s third party information from Ontario Blue Cross (OB) to Medavie Blue Cross (BC).

8. Confirm the Active checkbox is selected for Medavie Blue Cross (BC) and deselected for Ontario Blue Cross (OB). Select Save.
