Refilling an Unauthorized Prescription
You can create a refill that is not authorized by the doctor yet. No claims are sent to the patient's third parties until the refill is authorized.
- Create a refill for a prescription that does not have any remaining authorized refills. You can create a refill from a patient's profile or by entering the Rx#.
Note: When you open the prescription in Rx Detail, an alert indicates that the prescription is unauthorized and the doctor must be contacted.
- Ensure there is a 0 in the QA field.
- Press the Fill button. The prescription is placed on the Pending tab with a status of Pending and an authorization status of NOT. A label set prints; it indicates AUTHORIZATION REQUIRED and CALL DOCTOR on the File Copy.
Note: If you do not want a label set, press the Queue or MultiFill action button instead of Fill.
- Once you receive authorization from the doctor, open the prescription in Rx Detail.
- Enter the quantity authorized in the QA field.
- You can now fill the prescription normally.
